Chapter one

The storyteller from the stream

Every mermaid has a story. Ours swam up a forest stream, found a village full of children who had never heard the songs of the sea, and decided to stay a while.

Now she travels to birthdays, library days and backyard celebrations with a basket of tales — the lighthouse that hummed, the octopus who lost her ink, the whale who counted stars — and every child leaves as an honorary member of the tide.
